POST-UFC 214: ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Anaheim, CA for the seventh time in promotional history last Saturday (July 29, 2017) with UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones II. It was a fun night of activity that saw half the bouts end within the distance, and with the scraps now in our rear perspective, let us take a look at that of the evening’s competitors we may no longer see going to work within the Octagon…
ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK
Kailin Curran
Curran dropped a unanimous decision to Aleksandra Albu at a really entertaining scrap. She is currently on a three-fight losing streak inside the Octagon, falling to 1-5 at the UFC. Following the defeat, despite putting up a solid hard work and winning the next and last round of this struggle, I think there is a fantastic likelihood that the advertising releases her out of her contract, considering I thought she would certainly get released after her prior defeat. Right now, she’s in what we call”Jessica Eye land,” so it would not be a shock to see her get a final opportunity to get a third time.
Josh Burkman
Burkman was knocked out in the first round of the bout against Colorado’s Drew Dober. The loss puts him onto a four-fight losing streak in the UFC, the last two of which have come from first-round finish. He retired after his previous loss, which had been a first-round, north-south choke entry against Michel Prazeres, leaving his gloves at the Octagon. However he returned to the Dober bout and changed his mind. Whether he retires for good or not, I think it’s reasonable to say that we have seen the last of Burkman inside the Octagon, and that I don’t expect to see the The Ultimate Fighter 2 veteran returning for a third stint with the promotion.
