Since he won his next phase of the race dutchman Mathieu van der Poel expanded his overall lead.
Van der Poel, 24, driven clear of rival Matteo Trentin in the last stages of this uphill finish to win point seven at Warwickshire.
He leads Trentin by 12 seconds in the classification heading into the final stage of Saturday.
“Everybody hurt their legs today,” he told ITV Sport,”and tomorrow will be no different.”
As Van der Poel jumped clear, britain’s Ben Swift tried to establish a attack but had been swiftly overhauled.
It looked like the Italian, as they approached the 100m, once the hill levelled off, sitting the wheel of Van der Poel, was in prime place to leap the world cyclocross champion.
However, when Van der Poel kicked for the third time Trentin was not able to respond, instantly shaking his mind as the Dutchman appeared obvious, then giving his nemesis the thumbs up in appreciation of his skill, prior to spreading his arms wide in a’what can I do?’ Gesture’ as he crossed the line a few bike lengths .
Australian Simon Clarke led the much peloton throughout the line three minutes.
The stage ends in Manchester 166km after and starts in Altrincham.
