Så var det dags för själva inspelningen av reklamfilmerna. Två dagar hade vi på oss att filma fyra filmer. Förutom jag själv bestod skådespelarteamet av Nadine, Anthony, Michael och geten Deer. Det var en väldigt rolig inspelning med ett suveränt team bakom kameran. Men de hade inte gjort det lätt för sig. Några av filmerna kommer att innehålla specialeffekter vilket krävde en detaljerad exakthet vid inspelningen och att jobba med en get kan vara ganska oförutsägbart. Men allt gick smidigt. Vi filmade på caféet Canal Market i Seattle, som var öppet för kunder under hela inspelningen. Särskilt Deer fick mycket uppmärksamhet 🙂

Finally, it was time to shoot the commercials. We had two days to shoot four films. Except for myself, the actor team was Nadine, Anthony, Michael and the goat Deer. We had a great time and the team behind the camera was phenomenal. But you can’t say they’d taken the easy way, making these commercials. Some of them will have a lot of special effects, which required a detailed accuracy during the shooting, and working with a goat can be pretty unpredictable. But everything went smoothly. We filmed at the coffee shop Canal Market in Seattle. It was open for regular customers the whole time, and especially Deer got a lot of attention 🙂
The first commercial will be launched in February, so then I will post it on my blog. Stay tuned!

Mitt första besök i Seattle! Jag lämnade snöiga Sverige och flög till regniga Seattle med en mellanlandning på Island, som jag heller aldrig besökt tidigare, för ett reklamfilmsjobb. Kom dit på kvällen och morgonen efter var det dags för kostymprov. Jag, producenten Paul och stylisterna Ron och Gerard träffades på varuhuset Nordstrom för att gå igenom typ halva deras sortiment. Ron och Gerard hade plockat fram en massa fina kläder som jag fick äran att prova. Vissa favorit-outfits gick bort för att de inte passade med karaktären (en fantastisk Kenzo-klänning bland annat) eller för att det var för kort ärm på plagget, till exempel. När vi provat igenom allt och hittat runt tio outfits vi gillade tog vi en liten lunchpaus bestående av rosa champagne och smårätter. Life of an actress 😉 Nej då, så lyxigt är det verkligen inte alltid; Anledningen till champagnen var att Paul fyllde år. Efter vår lilla paus gick vi vidare till en butik som heter Baby & Company för nästa provning. Och mer champagne… Även här hittade vi en hel del saker som vi ville använda, bl.a. ett par jättesnygga Kenzo-skor.
Allt som allt behövde vi tre-fyra outfits, och dagen efter möttes vi igen på caféet där vi skulle spela in reklamfilmerna för att repa och för att kunden skulle välja vilka outfits det slutligen skulle bli. Kenzo-skorna blev okejade 🙂 På kvällen sen var vi ett gäng som gick till en mysig liten restaurang i Melrose Market, inte långt från hotellet där vi bodde. Seattle ligger ju vid vattnet, så självklart bestod vår måltid av en hel del fisk och skaldjur. Mätta och belåtna gick vi till hotellet – som tur var hade det slutat att regna – och vila inför den efterföljande dagens inspelning.

My first visit to Seattle! I left a snowy Sweden for a commercial job in rainy Seattle with a pit stop in Iceland (where I’ve never been before either) changing planes. I arrived in the evening and the morning after I had a wardrobe fitting. I, the producer Paul and the wardrobe stylists Ron and Gerard met at Norstrom to go through half of their collection it felt like. Ron and Gerard had picked a lot of gorgeous clothes for me to try on – it was really a treat! Some of our favorites were voted out because they didn’t fit the character I was going to play (like a beautiful Kenzo dress) or because the sleeves were too short, for example. When I had tried everything on we had about ten outfits that we liked and then it was time for a lunch break, consisting of pink champagne and appetizers. Life of an actress 😉 No, it’s really not that fancy all the time; The reason why we had champagne was because it was Paul’s birthday. After our little break we went to a store called Baby & Company for more fittings. And more champagne…. We found a lot of stuff in this boutique as well, for example a pair of amazing Kenzo shoes.
In total we needed three to four outfits, and the next day we met again at the coffee shop where we were going to shoot the commercials to rehearse and so that the client could choose which outfits we were going to use. The Kenzo shoes got in 🙂 Then in the evening a couple of us went to a cozy restaurant at Melrose Market, not far from our hotel. Seattle is located by the water, so our meal was full of seafood. Full and contended we walked back to the hotel – luckily the rain had stopped – to rest for the coming day’s shoot.

När man presenterar en filmidé för potentiella producenter och investerare är det vanligt att man visar en filmsnutt för att tydligare beskriva filmens ton, karaktär och innehåll, ett så kallat proof of concept och förra veckan filmade jag en sån trailer på en klinik i Reseda. Jag får inte berätta vad den handlar om än, men jag spelar en androgyn karaktär som är där med min lika androgyna partner. Inspelningen var väldigt rolig med superduktiga skådespelare och fantastiskt team. Håll utkik här på bloggen för mer info i början av nästa år 🙂

When you are presenting a movie concept for potential producers and financiers it’s pretty common that you show them some footage to describe the movie’s tone, character and content more clearly, a so called proof of concept, and last week I shot such a trailer at a clinic in Reseda. I’m not allowed to tell you what it’s about yet, but I play an androgynous character who is at the clinic with her equally androgynous fiancé. The shoot was great with amazing actors and a fantastic crew. Stay tuned on the blog for more info in the beginning of next year 🙂

För någon vecka sedan fick jag ett samtal från Eric Chang, regissören för långfilmen ”Saudade” som jag filmade för ett år sedan. Han berättade att något hade hänt vid redigeringen av filmen så att flera filer förstörts och att han därför varit tvungen att skriva nya scener för att få ihop filmen och undrade om jag hade tid att filma dem. Och det är klart att jag gjorde tid för det! ”Saudade” handlar om Gabi och hur hon utnyttjas, misshandlas och tvingas in i illegala verksamheter. I de nya scenerna berättar min karaktär, Cloris, hela Gabis historia för en journalist som håller på att skriva en artikel i ämnet.

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from Eric Chang, the director of the movie ”Saudade” that I filmed about a year ago. He told me that something had happened during the editing of the movie so a lot of files got corrupt and therefore he had written some new scenes to make the movie work and was wondering if I would have time to shoot them. And of course I made time for that! ”Saudade” is a story about Gabi and how she got abused and forced into illegal activities. In the new scenes my character, Cloris, tells Gabi’s story to a journalist who is writing an article about the subject.

Häromdagen filmade jag en väldigt dramatisk kortfilm som heter ”The Last Call”. Den är baserad på en verklig historia ur regissören Nicks liv. Jag spelar en kvinna vars man har fått barn med en annan kvinna och nu bestämt sig för att lämna henne. Hela hennes värld går i spillror, hon har ingenting kvar, och hon ser ingen annan utväg än att ta livet av sig. I ett sista försök att hitta en mening med livet ringer hon in till en radio talk show som hon alltid brukar lyssna på och det visar sig att programledaren och hon har mer gemensamt än vad de först vetat om.

The other day I shot a very dramatic short film named ”The Last Call”. It’s based on a true story from the director Nick’s life. I play a woman whose husband had a child with another woman and now has decided to leave her. Her whole world falls apart, she has nothing left to live for, and she doesn’t see any other solution than to take her own life. In a last attempt to find a meaning of life she calls a radio talk show that she always listens to and it turns out that she and the talk show host have more in common than they knew.

Jag förstår verkligen att Los Angeles är filmens huvudstad. Förutom alla stora studios och alla talangfulla filmarbetare som finns i själva LA, finns det så vitt skilda utomhusmiljöer en eller ett par timmars bilresa därifrån. I söndag var jag i öknen, ungefär 1½ timmes bilfärd bort. I Palmdale. Eller ska jag säga: Vilda Västern. För det är faktiskt här som många västernfilmer har spelats in. Vilket landskap! Och vilket väder… Just i söndags blåste det ganska mycket, så det var kallt och tumbleweeden, sanden och löv flög hej vilt. Sen började det regna… Tur att vi hade bilar att ta skydd i. Men tack och lov sprack det upp så att vi kunde börja filma efter ett par timmars väntan. Filmen utspelar sig i Afrika och är egentligen helt färdigfilmad, men några scener behövdes tas om och det var det vi skulle göra nu; en s.k. re-shoot. Eftersom skådespelarna som är med i filmen var uppbokade på andra jobb fick jag hoppa in som stand in för en av huvudkaraktärerna och spela henne. Allting flöt på bra och precis när vi hoppade in i bilarna för att åka tillbaka till LA började regnet att ösa ner igen…

I really do understand why Los Angeles is the capital of the movies. Except for all the big studios located here and the talent available in the city of LA, there are so many different locations one or two hours away. This past Sunday I was in the desert, about 1.5 hours by car from LA. In Palmdale. Or I should say: The Wild West. Because a lot of westerns have been filmed here. What a landscape! And what a weather… This particular Sunday it was very windy, so it was cold and the tumble weed, the sand and leaves were all over the place. And then it started to rain… Lucky us that we had cars to hide inside of. But after a couple of hours the rain had passed us and we could start shooting. The movie takes place in Africa and is already filmed, but some scenes had to be re-shot. And that was today’s mission. And since the actors were busy with something else I got to stand in for one of the leads. Everything went smoothly, but just as we jumped in the cars to go back to LA the rain started to pour again…

En av de roliga sakerna med att jobba som skådespelare är att man aldrig vet vad nästa uppdrag blir. Och det kan bli vad som helst. Som den här veckan när jag jobbade med en orm ena dagen i Sundbyberg utanför Stockholm, nästa dag hade jag man och två barn i Hässleholm i Skåne. Därefter firade jag nyår i en reklamfilm och i fredags var jag VD under en övning på en fotografutbildning. Kul!

One of the things I like about working as an actress is that you never know what your next job will be. And it can be anything. Like this week. One day I worked with a snake in Sundbyberg outside Stockholm, the next day I was married, had two kids and lived in Hässleholm in the southern part of Sweden. Then I celebrated New Years in a commercial and on Friday I portrayed a CEO at a photography workshop. Fun!

A lot of souvenirs…
I söndags var det dags för inspelningen av kortfilmen ”Souvenirs”, där jag spelar en turist i LA tillsammans med min vän och fantastiska skådespelaren Jani.
Kl 06.00 blev jag upphämtad och sen bar det av till LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, för första scenen. Och kan ni tro – det började regna! Tidigare i veckan har meteorologerna sagt att det skulle komma regn på söndagen, men sen har de ändrat sig och spått inget regn den närmsta tiden. Men det kom. Det tog tre scener innan det blev uppehåll och sen tittade solen fram så att vi tack och lov fick den solnedgång i Santa Monica som var inskriven i manuset. Allt som allt en rolig dag med mycket sightseeing och souvenirer. Och att det regnade gjorde bara att historien blev ännu bättre! 🙂

This past Sunday was the day of the filming of the short film ”Souvenirs”, in which I play a tourist in LA together with my friend Jani (he’s an amazing actor!).
I got picked up at 6 am and then we went to LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, for the first scene. And you know what?! It started to rain!! In the beginning of last week the weather forecast said that it was going to rain Sunday, but then it changed and they predicted no rain in the near future. But there it was. It took three scenes before it had stopped, and then the sun came out so we got the sunset in Santa Monica, written in the screenplay. Altogether a very fun day with a lot of sightseeing and souvenirs. And the rain actually made the story even better! 🙂
