I lördags firade Volvo 60 år i Nordamerika med en stor fest på Paramount Pictures Studio i Hollywood. Området var fullt med Volvos från alla tidsepoker – den äldsta från 1927 – och de hade ordnat en Drive In-bio som visade klipp från filmer tv-serier där Volvo-bilar hade en ”roll”. Utöver detta fanns show rooms med bilder över Volvos historia och bjöds det på mat och dryck och underhållning. Kvällens hedersgäst var Jay Leno som kom inkörande i sin blå Volvo och sedan körde en bejublad stand up-show.

This past Saturday Volvo celebrated 60 years in North America with a big party at Paramount Pictures Studio in Hollywood. The New York Street area was filled with Volvo cars from year 1927 to the newest Volvo available on the market today. There was also a Drive In movie theatre where they showed movies and tv series that featured a Volvo and show rooms with photos telling the history of Volvo in North America. And of course a lot to eat and drink and entertainment. The guest of honor of the night was Jay Leno, who arrived in his blue Volvo, and then treated us with an outstanding stand up show.

A lot of souvenirs…
I söndags var det dags för inspelningen av kortfilmen ”Souvenirs”, där jag spelar en turist i LA tillsammans med min vän och fantastiska skådespelaren Jani.
Kl 06.00 blev jag upphämtad och sen bar det av till LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, för första scenen. Och kan ni tro – det började regna! Tidigare i veckan har meteorologerna sagt att det skulle komma regn på söndagen, men sen har de ändrat sig och spått inget regn den närmsta tiden. Men det kom. Det tog tre scener innan det blev uppehåll och sen tittade solen fram så att vi tack och lov fick den solnedgång i Santa Monica som var inskriven i manuset. Allt som allt en rolig dag med mycket sightseeing och souvenirer. Och att det regnade gjorde bara att historien blev ännu bättre! 🙂

This past Sunday was the day of the filming of the short film ”Souvenirs”, in which I play a tourist in LA together with my friend Jani (he’s an amazing actor!).
I got picked up at 6 am and then we went to LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, for the first scene. And you know what?! It started to rain!! In the beginning of last week the weather forecast said that it was going to rain Sunday, but then it changed and they predicted no rain in the near future. But there it was. It took three scenes before it had stopped, and then the sun came out so we got the sunset in Santa Monica, written in the screenplay. Altogether a very fun day with a lot of sightseeing and souvenirs. And the rain actually made the story even better! 🙂

I torsdags var jag på vernissage på Quixiote Studios i West Hollywood. ”Portraits” är en utställning med några av Timothy Whites fotografier av några av vår tids ikoner som Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman och Brad Pitt. Väldigt fascinerande. Jag mötte upp min vän Meredith där. Alltid lika roligt att hänga med henne! Mellan minglandet gick vi loss och fotade oss med våra favoritporträtt.

This past Thursday I attended the opening reception of ”Portraits” by Timothy White at Quixiote Studios in West Hollywood. The exhibit is a retrospective look at some of Timothy’s most iconic subjects like Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman and Brad Pitt. Very intriguing. I met up with my friend Meredith. I always have such a fun time with her! We enjoyed ourselves mingling and taking photos with and of our favorite portraits.

I veckan har jag bland annat repat inför två kortfilmer. En är en komedi, där jag spelar mot min vän Jani, och den andra är ett relationsdrama. Det är så fantastiskt när det finns tid till repetitioner innan man filmar, för man upptäcker alltid nya saker i texten och situationen, när man jobbar med sin medspelare, som man sen kan jobba vidare på och därmed fördjupa sitt arbete.

This week I have, among other things, rehearsed two short films. One is a comedy, in which my friend Jani plays the other lead, and the other is a relationship drama. It makes me so happy when there is time for rehearsals before the actual shoot, because you always discover new things in the dialogue and the situation when you work with your scene partner, that you can continue to work on and with thereby deepen your work.

Vilken fantastisk dag! Tack vare naturens under. Började dagen med en ”hajk” i Coldwater Canyon Park. Solen hade precis gått upp och det i kombination med utsikten var bara magiskt! Sedan åkte jag till Banning, öster om Los Angeles, för att jobba och fick uppleva solnedgången där i det otroligt vackra och stillsamma landskapet. Också det helt magiskt!

What an amazing day! Thanks to the wonders of nature. My day began with a hike in Coldwater Canyon Park. It was just after sunrise and that in combination with the marvelous view was just magical. Then I went to Banning, east of Los Angeles, to work and got to experience the sunset in that incredibly beautiful and tranquil landscape. That too was absolutely magical!

Den här helgen har varit fullspäckad med film. I torsdags såg jag den belgiska filmen ”The Verdict”, arrangerat av Film Festival Flix. Filmen handlar om en man som får sin fru mördad och när rättegången mot gärningsmannen läggs ner, på grund av att en underskrift från en domare saknas på ett dokument, tar han lagen i sina egna händer och utmanar rättsstaten som svek honom. Återigen en väldigt tänkvärd film om vad som är rätt och fel och hur sårbart ett rättssystem kan vara. Finns att se på filmfestivalflix.com.
Sen i fredags följde jag med min vän Maria till Directors Guild of America och såg ”The Walk”, filmen om Philippe Petit som gick på lina mellan de två World Trade Center-byggnaderna i New York. Den är filmad i 3D och vanligtvis brukar jag inte tycka att det gör varken till eller från, men den här gången tillförde det verkligen filmen något. Det kittlade i magen varje gång man såg över kanten och när han gjorde sina konster på linan.
Och i lördags var det röda mattan och premiären av ”Lost In Time” på The Attic i Hollywood. Filmen är tillägnad alla soldater som går ut i krig och handlar om en kvinna vars fästman åker till Irak och hur hon håller livet igång med att vänta på hans brev och ruta in sin vardag kring hans skypesamtal, samtidigt som hon försöker hålla modet uppe och planera deras bröllop. Sen kommer en liten hund in i hennes liv, vilket hjälper henne att återvända till verkligheten och börja leva igen. Rolig och sorglig på samma gång. Kommer på flera festivaler under hösten/vintern.

This weekend has been full of movies. On Thursday I saw the Belgian film ”The Verdict” at Laemmle in North Hollywood. The screening was hosted by Film Festival Flix. The movie is about a man whose wife is being murdered and when the trial never happens, due to a procedural error, he decides to take justice into his own hands and challenges the constitutional state that let him down. Again a movie that makes you think about what’s right or wrong and how vulnerable a legal system can be. You can watch it at filmfestivalflix.com.
Then on Friday I and my friend Maria went to Directors Guild of America to see ”The Walk”, the movie about Philippe Petit who walked on a high-wire between the two World Trade Center towers in New York. It’s a 3D movie and I usually think the movie would have been just as good without it, but to this movie it really added something. You feel the thrill every time the camera looks out over the edge and when he’s doing his ”tricks” on the wire.
And on Saturday it was the red carpet premiere of ”Lost In Time” at The Attic in Hollywood. The movie is dedicated to all soldiers going to war and it is about a women whose fiancé leaves for the war in Iraq and how she tries to keep her life going waiting for his letters and schedule her daily life around his Skype calls, at the same time she tries to keep up the hope and plan their wedding. Then a cute little dog comes into her life, which helps her return to reality and start to live again. Funny and sad at the same time. You will be able to see it on several film festivals during fall/winter.

Morgonen efter att jag landat i LA var det till att gå upp efter fem timmars sömn för att jobba på en musikvideo. Vilken bra start! Jag var så klart lite trött, men hade en jätterolig dag. Vi filmade i en liten studio i Glendale som var riggad till att föreställa en bar. Regissör och fotograf var ingen mindre än artisten själv: J.D. Mata. Jag spelade ”the barfly” som i slutet av videon ”mjuknar” och faller för den skönsjungande musikern.

The morning after landing at LAX I had to wake up after only five hours of sleep to work on a music video. What a great welcome back! I was of course a bit tired, but I had such a fun day. We filmed in a small studio in Glendale, set up to look like a bar. Director and cinematographer was the artist himself: J.D. Mata. I played ”the barfly” who in the end ”softens” and falls for the musician.

Så, då är jag äntligen tillbaka i LA efter en låååång resdag. Första flyget skulle gå från Arlanda kl. 08.40, men var försenat en halvtimme ungefär. Vilket inte gjorde så mycket, för sen hade jag sex timmar att slå ihjäl i Helsingfors innan vidare resa till Chicago. Jag var väldigt trött och helst hade jag velat lägga mig ner och sova någonstans, men jag utnyttjade tiden till att jobba och fick väldigt mycket gjort som jag inte hunnit under min vecka i Stockholm.
Nästa flygtur var lite längre än de 50 minuterna mellan Stockholm och Helsingfors, så då hann jag med att både sova och se en halv + en + en halv film. Först såg jag slutet på Spy som jag inte hade hunnit med på planet till Stockholm. Sen blev det en japansk film: Maestro. Jättefin! Gillar du musik ska du absolut se den. Innan landning i Chicago hann jag med första hälften av True Story. Den hoppas jag kunna se slutet på under någon kommande flygning.
I Chicago gick allt ovanligt fort och smidigt. Ingen kö i immigration och knappt någon vid security check heller, så jag hann med 10 minuters marginal till boardningen av dagens sista flyg: Chicago – Los Angeles. Drygt fyra timmars sömn senare landade vi och efter ytterligare två timmar var jag hemma i lägenheten, ca 28 timmar efter att min resdag hade startat på flygbussen i Stockholm.

Finally back in LA after a loooong day’s journey. My first flight was supposed to depart from Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 8:40 am, but was about 30 minutes delayed. But it didn’t matter that much to me, because then I had six hours to kill at the airport in Helsinki, Finland, before my next flight to Chicago. I was very tired and wanted to just lay down to sleep somewhere, but I used my time well and worked instead. I got a lot of things done that I hadn’t have time to do during my week in Stockholm.
My next flight was a bit longer than the 50 minutes from Stockholm to Helsinki, so I had time to both sleep and watch ½ + 1 + ½ movie. First I watched the end of Spy, which I didn’t have time to see before landing on my flight to Stockholm. Then a Japanese movie: Maestro. Beautiful! If you like music you should definitely watch it! Before landing in Chicago I had time to watch the first half of True Story. I hope I will be able to watch the rest on a flight in the near future.
In Chicago everything went surprisingly fast and smoothly. No line to immigration and hardly and people before me at the security check, so I managed to be at my gate 10 minutes before boarding of my final flight of the day: Chicago – Los Angeles. About four hours of sleep later we landed at LAX and after another two hours I was home, 28 hours after my journey started on the bus to the airport in Stockholm.

En vecka går så fort! Men Stockholm visade sig från sin bästa höstsida och jag hann med en massa roliga saker som inspelningen av en japansk film, min kurs Hands On Hollywood, träffa släkt och vänner, guida en båttur i skärgården och gå på auditions. Och ta långa promenader på Djurgården.

A week goes by so quickly! But Stockholm showed its best autumn-side and I got to do a lot of fun stuff like playing a spy in a Japanese movie, holding my seminar Hands On Hollywood, see friends and family, guide a boat tour in the Stockholm archipelago and have auditions. And take long walks at beautiful Djurgården in Stockholm city.
