Det är sällan man kan sitta och ha långfrukost med ett magasin och en kaffekopp en fredagmorgon. Knappt ens på helgerna faktiskt.
Den här långhelgen i maj är ett av mina favoritandningshål, den kommer alltid lite som en överraskning för man har huvudet nerborrat i jobb i fullt produktionsläge efter en notion om vad man ska hinna det första halvåret, det är fullt av aktiviteter i kalendern – och så plötsligt stannar allt av och alla bara släpper det de har för händerna och tar time-out. Och eftersom alla gör det samtidigt är det som att det inte hänt för man kommer tillbaka på måndag och fortsätter där man släppte i onsdags. Ingen har tjuvjobbat och flyttat fram positionerna över helgen, det är liksom en oskriven regel.
Man kan prata om bortfall och kostnader av lediga dagar i maj men den här pausen tror jag ligger bakom ett antal innovationer och nya idéer. Det är ju när man gör något annat som de smartaste tankarna och inspirationen kommer!
It’s not often you have the time for a long breakfast with a cup of coffee and a magazine on a Friday morning. Not even on the weekends actually.
This long weekend in May is one of my favorite breathers. It always comes as a bit of a surprise because you have your head drilled down in full production mode after a notion of what you really should fit in the first six months of the year, the calendar is filled to the brim, – and then suddenly everything stops and people just drop whatever they’re doing, puts their hands up and takes a timeout. And because everyone does it simultaneously, it’s like it never happened when you come back on Monday. You just pick up from where it was left off on Wednesday. No one has sneak-worked and advanced the positions over the weekend, it’s like an unwritten rule.
You could talk about production loss and costs of the May bank holidays, but I think a number of innovations and ideas comes from this break. It’s when you’re doing something else the clever thoughts and inspiration hits you!
